Hannes Wessels was born in 1956 in Salisbury (now Harare, Zimbabwe) and grew up in Umtali (now Mutare). His books include A Handful of Hard Men: the SAS and the battle for Rhodesia and We Dared to Win, the SAS in Rhodesia. He lives in Darling in the Western Cape.
