Raymond Perrier on the life and theology of Paddy Kearney (1942-1918). Kearney was Founder and Chair of the Denis Hurley Centre, an interfaith community centre on Durban. He worked closely alongside Archbishop Denis Hurley and is the author of Guardian of Light: Denis Hurley, renewing the Church, opposing apartheid and Memories: the memoirs of Archbishop Denis Hurley. He was also Founding Director of Diakonia Council of Churches, Chair of the Gandhi Development Trust and advisor to KZN Christian Council and the Province Commission on Social Cohesion.
Raymond Perrier was appointed by Paddy Kearney as the first Director of the Denis Hurley Centre in 2015. Before this, he was Director of the Jesuit Institute on Johannesburg, a project director in an Ugandan refugee camp with the Jesuit Refugee Service, and Head of Communications for the UK development charity CAFOD. This book is based on his PhD thesis, awarded by the University of KwaZulu-Natal in 2023.
