As a boy Patrick Rukundo Tabaro lived through the Rwandan genocide, refugee camps in the Democratic Republic of Congo and the First Congo War. After living in Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia and Mozambique, he travelled to South Africa, where he obtained his matriculation certificate in 2013, 19 years after the genocide forced him to abandon his schooling. Currently he lives in Cape Town.
