THEO ESHETU, Till Death Us Do Part

Till Death Us Do Part is a 20 minute video-wall installation made by Theo Eshetu and initially displayed in 1985, before being expanded and presented at the Massimo Riposati Gallery in Rome. It then began a word tour as part of the exhibition, The International Art Show for the End of World Hunger. An internal dispute put an end to the tour. Till Death Us Do Part was rediscovered 30 years later for an exhibition at Iwalewahaus in Bayreuth and the video installation is now preserved in the collections of MoMA, where it has been on show since 2020.

Theo Eshetu was born in 1958 in London and grew up in Addis Ababa, Dakar and London before establishing himself in Rome. He currently lives and works in Berlin.
