South African artist Louis Jansen van Vuuren was born in 1949 in Middleburg in the Eastern Transvaal and taught at Stellenbosch University and Michaelis School of Fine Art in Cape Town. He moved to France in the late 1990s and lives in a château in the French countryside. He has held over 50 exhibitions in South Africa and abroad, and is the author of The Story of a House and Tempermes, a volume of poetry, and co-author of the cookbooks Festive France, There’s a Vegan on my Verandah and Earthling Food.
