In 2016 Ronald Christo Bester (b. 1947) completed a PhD degree on the subject of Boer Firearms during the Anglo-Boer War of 1899-1902. He is also the author of Boer Rifles and Carbines of the Anglo-Boer War (1994) and Small Arms of the Anglo-Boer War 1899-1902 (2003).
