Interdisciplinary artist Grada Kilomba was born in 1968 in Lisbon, Portugal. A World of Illusions (2017-2019) was presented at the 32nd Sao Paolo Biennale, the 10th Berlin Biennale, and the Palais de Tokyo in 2021. Influenced by the work of Frantz Fanon, Kilomba studied Freudian Psychoanalysis in Lisbon and holds a Doctorate in Philosophy from the Freie Universität Berlin. She has lectured at several universities and was Guest Professor in the Department of Gender Studies, Humboldt Universität Berlin. She was a guest artist at the Maxim Gorki Theatre, where she developed Kosmos 2, a political intervention with refugee artists, and is the author of the Plantation Memories (2008). She lives in Berlin.
