Hloni Bookholane studied medicine at the University of Cape Town. He was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to complete a Masters in Public Health at the John Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in the USA. He returned to South Africa in June 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. He is currently an intern at Groote Schuur Hospital.
