Renosterveld is part of the Greater Cape Floristic Region's Fynbos biome. The Overberg is the region stretching from Sir Lowry's Pass outside Cape Town along the coast to Cape Agulhas, eastwards to the Breede River, and northwards to the foothills of the Hottentots Holland, Riviersonderend and Langeberg mountains.

 Dr Odetee Curtis-Scott founded the Overberg-Renosterveld Conservation Trust in 2012.
