Nigel Willis was born in Cape Town in 1953. A former banker, he was called to the Bar in 1980, took silk in 1997, was appointed to the high court in Gauteng in 1998, and was a judge of the Supreme Court of Appeal from 2013 until his retirement in 2018. An ordained non-stipendiary minister in the Anglican Church of Southern Africa, he has preached from the pulpit of St George's Church in Parktown, Johannesburg, for 10 years. He is the author of Banking in South African Law and The Pentecostal Movement, its Challenges and Potential.
