Literature student Nyarai Maria Kanyemba was moved to explore how trauma is represented in texts by two Zimbabwean authors, Christopher Kudyahakudadirwe and Tendai Rinos Mwanaka,  after her daughter was brutally murdered by her boyfriend. This research was submitted to the Zimbabwe Open University in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Communications Studies.

Nyarai Maria Kanyemba is currently studying for an Honours degree in literature from Zimbabwe Open University.
