The architectural and design practice Mathews and Associates Architects was established in Pretoria in October 2000. In 2018 principal architect Pieter Mathews was awarded the Medal of Honour Visual Art (Architecture) by the Afrikaans Academy for the Arts and Sciences/ Suid-Afrikaanse Akademie vir Wetenskap en Kuns).
