Journalists and newspaper editors Alide Dasnois and Chris Whitfield on Iqbal Survé's reign at Independent Newspapers. Survé's Sekunjalo Independence Media Consortium bought Independent Newspapers in April 2013.

"A must-read for those who value quality, independent journalism...This is an eye-opening account of what happens when transformation goes horribly wrong, when one man's interests override a nation's drive for change and progress." Anton Harber, Caxton Professor of Journalism (Adjunct), University of the Witwatersrand

"An easy-to-read chronicle of how two people personally involved with Survé's newspapers witnessed the decimation of the media company. It is also about the role of the people - some of whom pose as paragons of journalistic virtue - who aided the erosion of editorial integrity." Mathatha Tsedu, Adjunct Professor and Acting Executive Director of the National Editors Forum (SANEF)

Alide Dasnois is the former editor of the Cape Times and Business Report. She is part-time associate editor at GroundUp news agency in Cape Town. She was fired by Survé in December 2013.
Chris Whitfield is the former editor of the Cape Times, Cape Argus and Weekend Argus, and the former editor-in-chief of Independent Newspapers Cape.
