Political analyst Ralph Mathekga predicts the ANC will fall below the critical 50 per cent threshold before the end of the decade given the warring factions within the ANC and President Ramaphosa's struggle to stem corruption.

"How will it all pan out? It's hard to know. But it may be important to avoid being surprised. There is no better guide to both our present and our future than Ralph Mathekga." Stephen Grootes, presenter of SAfm Sunrise

Ralph Mathekga taught politics at the University of the Western Cape and worked as a senior policy analyst at the National Treasury. He is currently a postdoctoral research fellow with the South African Research Chairs Initiative (SARChI): African Diplomacy and Foreign Policy at the University of Johannesburg, and the author of When Zuma Goes and Ramaphosa's Turn, can Cyril save South Africa?
