Leonard Trelawny Hobhouse (1864–1929) was a British sociologist & political theorist, a leading figure in New Liberalism through his influential work Liberalism (1911). In Mind in Evolution (1901), he traced the progressive evolution of thought & morality, arguing that mental development shaped ethics & social life.
