 South African author, cultural activist and academic Robert Malcolm McLaren (aka Robert Mshengu Kavanagh) has lived in Harare, Zimbabwe, since 1984. He co-founded the Workshop ’71 Experimental Theatre in Johannesburg and the Zambuko/Izibuko political theatre group and the CHIPAWO Arts Education for Development and Employment Trust in Harare. In 2012 he won the Ibsen Prize for the project, "Negotiating Ibsen in Southern Africa".
