Funeral service and insurance provider AVBOB sponsors an annual online poetry competition, open to speakers of all 11 of South Africa's official languages. This year's anthology explores the themes of resilience, courage and renewal.

 Includes the top six poems and three commissioned poems in each language category. Where necessary the poems are accompanied by an English translation.

The late Afrikaans poet Johann de Lange (1959–2025) made his debut in 1983 with Aquarelle van die dors (Ingrid Jonker Prize). In 2011, he was awarded the Hertzog Prize for Die algebra van nood. His final volumes include Die meeste sterre is lankal dood(2020) and Miniatuur (2024).

Professor Nxalati Charlotte Priscilla Golele headed the Department of Xitsonga at the University of the North and served as Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Acting Principal and Vice Chancellor. She headed the Xitsonga National Lexicography Unit, where she was Editor-in-Chief (2002-2005), and the Xitsonga National Language and Research and Development Centre, where she was Manager (2005-2008).
