This anthology includes Afrikaans poet Elisabeth Eybers' (1915-2007) most famous poems, poems about her children, her move to the Netherlands and her later poems about growing old.

Ena Jansen, a good friend of Elizabeth Eybers, grew up in KwaZulu-Natal. She was appointed Professor of South African literature at the University of Amsterdam in 2001, a post she held for sixteen years. Her publications include Afstand en verbintenis, Elisabeth Eybers in Amsterdam and Soos Familie, stedelike huiswerkers in Suid-Afrikaanse tekste.
