In Rojava (a region in north and east Syria) Kurdish fighters are creating
an alternative system of radical democracy they call democratic confederalism.

Democratic Confederalism, a revolutionary ideology that has arisen in the Kurdish Freedom Movement in parts of Turkey, Syria, and Iran, involves people organising themselves into communes, councils and committees to democratically run every aspect of their lives and to create a communal economy based on co-operatives.

The International Labour Research and Information Group (ILRIG), founded in 1983, is a support organisation dedicated to research, education, training, the production of popular materials, and the provision of reflective spaces for working-class movements in South and Southern Africa.
