Koos Sas was a Khoisan sheep rustler who was shot dead in Springbok in 1922 after being accused of murdering a shopkeeper in Montagu in 1917. His skull, which was kept on display in a glass case in Montagu Museum for many years, was interred in Cogmanskloof in 2021 in a ceremony led by Khoisan leaders.
