In 1862 Sayid Abu Baker Effendi (1814-1880) from Erzurum, Turkey, was sent to the Cape of Good Hope by Sultan Abdulaziz to resolve religious conflicts amoung Muslim groups. He lived in Woodstock, Cape Town until his death.
