Marlise Joubert's first poetry collection, Boot in die Woestyn, was published in 1971. Grondwater is her ninth volume of poetry. She has also published three novels and compiled the anthology, In a Burning Sea, contemporary Afrikaans poetry in translation. She lives in Stellenbosch and is the webmaster of Versindaba.co.za.
