Playwright, academic and writer Willem Anker (b. 1979) is the author of the novels Siegfried (2007) and Buys (2014), which won the University of Johannesburg Fiction Prize, the WA Hofmyer Prize, the kykNET-Rapport Prize and the Hertzog Prize. Translated into English as Red Dog, it was longlisted for the Booker Prize. He teaches creative writing at Stellenbosch University.
