Mosibudi Mangena spent five years imprisoned on Robben Island and shortly after his release went into exile. On his return to South Africa in 1991 he was elected President of AZAPO. He became a Member of Parliament in 1999 and served as Deputy Minister of Education and later as Minister of Science and Technology. In 2013 he was awarded the Order of Luthuli in Silver in recognition of his role in the struggle for freedom. He is the author of Triumphs & Heartaches and Apartheid Fault Lines and Other Short Essays. He lives in Polokwane.
