A memoir by lawyer Don MacRobert, who helped set up the NPO, the Get Ahead Foundation, in Soweto in the early 1980s, where he served as a director for 15 years. By 1999 Get Ahead had created 40 000 job opportunities in the informal sector through its microcredit programme and training initiatives.

Don MacRobert is the founding chairman of Lawyers for Human Rights. In 1996 he was awarded the St Michael Award by Archbishop Desmond Tutu. In September 2020, the Anglican Church of Southern Africa conferred on him the Order of St Cyrene, its highest award for a layperson.
