Memoir of former South African Ambassador and diplomat Glenn Babb.
Babb joined the Department of Foreign Affairs in 1967 and served as secretary at the South African Embassy in Paris for three years and later as the embassy's counsellor. In 1978 he moved to the South African Embassy in Rome before becoming head of the Africa Desk at the Department of Foreign Affairs in 1981. He was Ambassador to Canada from 1985 to 1987, before taking over as Deputy Director-general of the Department of Foreign Affairs. After serving as a National Party MP for two years under President Nelson Mandela he served as South African Ambassador to Italy. He left government service in 1995.
"In One Era and Out of the Other is a timely reminder that while epochs change, legacies live on, often in a distorted, one-dimensional form. Glenn Babb's book provides a very readable and fascinating antidote." Helen Zille, Former Premier of the Western Cape 2009-2019
