Olivia Evezi, who imagines a life of Enid Blyton-type adventures, leaves her hometown of Warri to attend boarding school in Lagos and university in Hamburg, Germany, her mother's homeland, and learns that life is filled with unexpected challenges.

Writer and teacher Sylvia Ofili was born in Nigeria and lives in Stockholm.

Comic book artist Birgit Weyhe was born in Munich, spent her childhood in East Africa and returned to Germany to study. Currently she teaches at Hamburg University. Her graphic novel, Madgermanes, won the 2016 Max-und-Moritz prize for best German comic.
