Autobiography

Vasuthavan Gopaul Govender was born in Mayville, Durban, in 1960. His family were forcibly removed to Chatsworth in 1967. He studied at the University of Durban-Westville and began his working life teaching high school maths and science in Port Elizabeth. Govender went on the lecture at Algoa College of Education, served in different capacities in the Education Department, and lectured at Nelson Mandela University and the University of Fort Hare. He was awarded a Doctorate in Mathematics Education in 2007. Govender retired in August 2023.
