Catalogue of the pan-African digital exhibition and podcast series which ran from September 2020 and December 2021 at archiveofforgetfulness.com. The project includes the work of fifty-six artists, cultural producers, curators, creative thinkers and researchers from the African continent and diaspora. The larger project consists of an eight-part podcast series, twenty-two art works submitted in response to an open call, five essays and six regionally curated projects.
"The contributions from artists, curators and other cultural practitioners from all over the African continent interrogate through different forms and modalities what it means to be African in an expanded understanding of that term. The resultant body of work stands as an emblem of the entangled histories of the continent and moreover a revolt against the static borders that encompass, as well as internally constrict, movement. The Archive of Forgetfulness therefore holds space for the forgotten - as forgetting helps to remember." from the preface
