Nonkululeko Gobodo was born in 1960 in Mthatha in the Eastern Cape. In 1987 she became the first black female Chartered Accountant in South Africa. She articled at KPMG and worked for Transkei Development Corporation, before founding the accountancy firm Gobodo Incorporated.

In 2011 she was instrumental in leading the merger of Gobodo Incorporated with SizweNtsaluba VSP to form SizweNtsalubaGobodo, South Africa's largest black-owned accountancy firm. In 2014 she stepped down from the role of executive chair of the company, and in 2016 co-founded Nkululeko Leadership Consulting (NLC), a black-owned and managed leadership consulting firm based in Johannesburg. She is currently the CEO and Head of Leadership Consulting at NLC and non-executive director at PPC Ltd and Clicks Group Limited.
