Barthélémy Tonguo was born in 1967 in Bandjoun, Cameroon. He lives between Paris and Bandjoun, where he founded a centre for artistic exchange in 2007. In 2011 he was made a Knight of the Order of Arts and Literature in France. He was shortlisted for the Prix Marcel Duchamp in 2016.

Art historian and curator Philippe Dagen is a professor at the Sorbonne in Paris and a critic for Le Monde. He is the author of Andre Derain, Sterling Ruby: Paris, Picasso and co-author of Ex Africa.
