A history of Bokbaai, an old farm on the West Coast. It was declared a Provincial Heritage Site in 1971 and is registered as a nature reserve. The British mined lime there - Green Point Lighthouse and Tuinhuis are built from this stone. There are graves from the previous four centuries, as well as Dutch and British shipwrecks. The Rygersdael was stranded there, and 50 sailors were buried at the estuary.
Dan Sleigh his written poetry, fiction and non-fiction. He is the author of the novel Eilande (translated into English as Islands), which won the WA Hofmeyr Prize, the RAU Prize for Creative Writing, the M-Net Prize for Creative Writing in Afrikaans, and the Sanlam/Insig/Kwela Great Novel Competition.
