Zirk van den Berg was born in Walvis Bay and grew up in the Cape. He is the author of the short story collection, Ekstra dun vir meer gevoel, and the novels, Wydsbeen, Een of Ander Held and Tweegevreet. His 2013 novel, 'n Ander Mens was awarded the kykNET- Rapport prize in the film category. In 2020, his novel Ek wens, ek wens won the WA Hofmeyr Prize and the KykNET-Rapport prize in fiction and the film category. He lives in New Zealand.
