Grootbos is a private eco-reserve for fynbos conservation between Stanford and Gansbaai in the Western Cape. The guide includes 410 of the 765 species recorded at Grootbos. 

Entrepreneur Michael Lutzeyer bought the small farm in 1991. He was awarded the Flora Conservation Award by the Botanical Society in 2008.
