Mava Silumko was born in East London and grew up in Cape Town. His other plays include Dear Diary, Ukuba Ndandisazi and Siyanyanzela. In 2017 he won the Most Outstanding Artist award at the Zabalaza Theatre Festival. In 2018 he formed his own company, Silumko Theatre Company.
