Hykie Berg is known for his roles in the television series Egoli: Place of Gold and Binnelanders, and for winning the 2011 season of the reality competition Survivor South Africa. He is the author of My storie van hoop, translated into English as Ultimate survivor, about his struggles with heroin addiction and mental illness and his process towards recovery, which won the 2021 Andrew Murray /Desmond Tutu prize for general Christian publications. He is a member of the preaching team at Centre Church in Olivedale, Johannesburg.
