A collection of photographs that document the projects undertaken in the first five years of architect Thomas Chapman's practice, Local Studio, in Johannesburg. Local Studio works mainly in "the affordable housing, social infrastructure and public space sectors".

Photographer David Southwood's other publications include the photobook The Bill of Rights and the broadsheet newspaper MEMORY CARD SEA POWER, documenting the lives of Tanzanian stowaways living below the N1 freeway in Cape Town.

Thomas Chapman founded Local Studio in 2012. In 2018 he was selected by Architectural Record as a winner of the Architectural Vanguard award, which recognises the best emerging architects around the world.
