South African percussionist, composer, educationalist and conflict resolution consultant Eugene Skeef went into exile in London in 1980. He was Director of Oval House Music School and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. He has served on the board of directors of the London Philharmonic Orchestra and on the advisory committee of Sound Junction, the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music interactive multimedia educational project. He was musician in residence of the Purcell School of Music, and in 2005 performed with his Abantu Ensemble at Buckingham Palace. He is Artistic Director of Quartet of Peace, an international project that uses music to bring about peaceful resolutions to conflict and poverty, with a particular focus on young people.

In Search of My River is his debut collection of poems.
