Ronelda Kamfer was born in 1981 in Cape Town. Her debut poetry collection, Noudat slapende honde, won the 2009 Eugène Marais Prize. Her other poetry collections are grond/Santekraam (2011), Hammie (2016) and Chinatown (2019). In 2016 she was awarded the Jan Rabie & Majorie Wallace Writers’ Bursary.  She lives in Makhanda.
