Herman Giliomee was Professor of Political Studies at the University of Cape Town, President of the South African Institute of Race Relations and Extraordinary Professor of History at the Stellenbosch University. His many books include The Shaping of South African Society, From Apartheid to Nation-Building and The Afrikaners.

Bernard Mbenga is Extraordinary Professor in the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences at North West University. He is co- author of Land, Chiefs, Mining, South Africa's North West Province since 1840 and Khongolose: A short history of the ANC in the North West Province.

Bill Nasson is Emeritus Professor of History at Stellenbosch University and a Fellow of the Stellenbosch Insitute for Advanced Study. His books include History Matters: Selected writings 1970-2016, The War for South Africa, South Africa at War, 1939-1945 and WWI and the People of South Africa.
