One of only a handful of catalogues raisonnes ever published covering the artworks of a South African artist, this publication will delight art lovers with its background on the artist, her style and motifs. It contains comprehensive data and illustrations of a fully representative selection of her works. 

Nita Spilhaus was active as an artist in the Cape from 1908 to her death in 1967. The author covered the artist's story, and that of other leading Cape painters of her era, in his 2015 publication, Nita Spilhaus (1878-1967) and her artist friends in the Cape in the early twentieth century. 

Peter Elliott has had a lifelong interest in both history and art. In 2015/16 he collaborated with Sanlam Art Collection, to mount the three exhibitions of her works they sponsored in both Cape Town and Johannesburg. Since then he has continued to maintain contact with all the auction houses that deal in the artsit's work worldwide, and to broaden his knowledge of both public and private ownership of her artworks. In this way he collated both images and data for the Catalogue, and deepened his knowledge and understanding of her art. The Catalogue is the fruit of the labour of these 15 years.
