Architect and academic Franco Frescura is Visiting Professor, Department of Architecture, University of the Witwatersrand and Honorary Professor and Senior Research Associate, University of KwaZulu-Natal. His books include Illustrated Glossary of South African Architectural Terms: English-isiZulu and Rural Buildings of South Africa, a vanishing tradition. Frescura was awarded the Simon van der Stel Gold Medal in 2022 in recognition of his work in Heritage Conservation.
