Academic, critic, editor and writer Stephen Gray was born in Cape Town in 1941 and lives in Johannesburg. Until 1992 he was Professor of English at Rand Afrikaans University. He has published novels, poetry, biography, essays and a play. His latest volumes of poetry include "Shelley Cinema" (2006) and "Taking Off" (2012).
