Zizipho Bam was born in 1976 in East London, Eastern Cape. She is the winner of the 2020 New Coin Prize for her poem "Learning to Swim" and the 2021 New Contrast National Poetry Prize for her poem "Silence in Church". Sunflowers for my lovers is her first poetry collection.
