Ronald Samuels was adopted by a white family and lived with them in Pretoria until the age of 9. Classified Coloured by the apartheid state, in 1978 he was relocated to the Cape Flats and adopted by another family also classified Coloured. Today he owns a farm, Olive Grove Guest Farm, in Sutherland in the Karoo.
