A two-volume history of South African National Defence Force's 32 Battalion. It covers the events in Angola in the 1960s that led to the formation of 32 Battalion from the vanquished remnants of an Angolan rebel movement. Drawing from recently declassified documents in the Department of Defence Documentation Centre, it also descibes the 117 documented military operations that the battalion took part in from 1976 to 1993. It also provides personal recollections from former battalion members and their allies and enemies.
Piet Nortje was a member of 32 Battalion for a decade, before being transferred. After 27 years service, he resigned from the SANDF in 2005 to take up a Military Contract Officer Post in the United Emirates Armed Forces, where he is currently serving as a captain.
