Léonora Miano was born in Cameroon in 1973. She won the prix Fémina  and the Grand prix du roman métis for her novel Season of the Shadow. Miano curates the Quilombola series of books at Seagull Publishers and is the founding director of Quilombo Publishing in Lomé, Togo.
