Sinclair Beiles was a South African poet, born in 1930. He lived in Paris and Greece in the 1950s, 60s and 70s. He returned to South Africa in 1979. His first volume of poetry "Ashes of Experience" won the Ingrid Jonker prize in 1969. He died in Johannesburg in 2000
