Mandisa Mfeka was born in 1989 and grew up in Ntuzuma township in Durban. She joined the South African Air Force in 2008 and qualified as the first African female fighter pilot in 2011. She flew one of the five SAAF Hawk Mk 120 aircraft over Loftus Versveld Stadium in Pretoria during President Cyril Ramaphosa's inauguration.
